WRITING
![]() |
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?
I read at a very early age. It was before Grammar school. The first book besides the Bible was 'The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe'. I began to write poetry somewhere around the ages of 10-12. It would ease my mind, purge my soul and allow myself to be honest, if only with myself. My home-life and the abuses endured were the target of my early writing and into my first book, '5 degrees to separation'. My older brother Michael was the first to read my works and my biggest supporter until his untimely death in 1980.

What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
I read a lot of confessional poetry. However, being in many poetic communities, and working as managing Editor with William S. Peters, Sr. of Inner Child Press, I read all genres and enjoy them as I expand my horizons.

Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force?
Absolutely! It is very cathartic. Internal conflicts have produced some of my better pieces.

Does reader feed-back help you?

What has been your experience with publishers?
I have been blessed. My first publisher was Matthew Miller of Authorsden and a wonderful person. He approached me with an offer to be published. I accepted and my first book '5 degrees to separation' was born.
My second publisher is William S. Peters, Sr. of Inner Child Press and I also work with him in other areas of Inner Child Enterprises. It has been a joy and a pleasure to be published by someone who is an Author several times over. He understands this side of it and is amazing with all of the Authors. My book 'Passages' was easier for me because William aka Bill made me a part of the process. http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?id=2906 http://www.innerchildpress.com/janet-p-caldwell.php (...) |

What are you working on now?
Inner Child has recently announced the winners of a (see below) poetry contest that is underwritten by Inner Child Press, so I am working on the anthology with Bill. My book 'Passages' was released last week. I am also the Managing Director of Inner Child Radio and the Managing Editor of Inner Child Magazine. My plate is very full and am constantly working on new projects. My last interview was done by 'knowurenemy' and can be heard in the archives.
